Researched is the nature of experiment as the most important method not only in sciences, but in educational process as well. Unfortunately, the thought experiment is not so common in the system of modern higher professional education, because allegedly “it could not be implemented in practice, and often model as self-sufficient”. The authors also believe, that the thought experiment as a kind of practical training is directly related to the real process of formation and development of personality, although it often operates with information about events, that happened. But what is wrong with retrospective analysis, when the researcher (student) analyzes real situation with particular element and reveals connection of multifaceted phenomena, that interests him in accordance with built hypotheses? Having constructed their own algorithm-scenario of practical training with students of the 4th year by method of “thought experiment”, the authors tried to convincingly show the feasibility of using this method in educational process at technical university.

Keywords: thought experiment, thought, idea, conception, reflections, perception and assimilation of knowledge, competences, principle of clarity, cognitive abilities.
