Examined are problems of adequate choice and application of statistical methods in pedagogical researches. Shown are basic concepts of measurement theory and statistical processing of results of pedagogical experiments. The role and place of statistical methods are shown. Noted is originality of educational results in the format of competences. Organizational and instrumental issues, that are being solved at planning stage of pedagogical experiment are reflected. Also steps are revealed to determine scales (types) of measured data and types of variables. Example of comparative use of parametric and nonparametric criterion from the data of forming experiment is presented.

Key words: pedagogical experiment, statistical creteria, scales of measurements.
