The issue of including a regional component in education and, consequently, the issue of forming regional identity among young people are becoming increasingly relevant. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to identify the vector of developing regional identity among students, which involves not only gaining knowledge about their native region, but also developing into a functionally literate individual with an active lifestyle. The discipline “Fundamentals of Russian Statehood” serves as a mechanism for achieving this goal. Taking into account the specifics of this academic discipline, a survey was conducted among first-year students in 2025 to identify the most significant traditional values, which were also briefly described by the students. From the respondents’ point of view, such values as family, life, honesty, and justice are of paramount importance. The results of the survey indicate the need to find a balance between the spiritual and the material, which will help students to effectively adapt and socialize in the new realities of life. Consequently, the importance of students strengthening their position in society through education is emphasized, particularly through the development of project research skills through participation in seminars dedicated to the significant aspects of the cultural and historical development of Siberia. Such inclusion of a regional component in education is not only a means of socialization for students, but also a vector for developing their system of moral values.
