The article examines the problem of managing modern communications in the digital educational environment in the structure of a higher educational institution, provides a number of approaches to defining the terms “communication” and “digital educational environment”. The characteristics of various types of educational communications are presented, the features of the pedagogical aspect of communications, the importance of communications in education are revealed. The digital educational environment is defined as the basis for the implementation of various communications in higher education, arguments are given in favor of the fact that the management of the digital educational environment today represents a methodological problem that needs further development. The study presents the specifics of managing the digital educational environment from the point of view of various authors studying this topic. The main problems of managing the digital educational environment of universities are listed and analyzed, including: the need for teachers to form new competencies in the digital environment, combining the space of the digital educational system with the deep essence of the learning process, taking into account the individual orientation of learning. The results of experimental work on the use of distance learning in higher education are presented, an analysis of their effectiveness and effectiveness is given. The measures are presented, taking into account which in practice will be able to improve the management of the digital educational system, increase the efficiency of its work.
