Presented is analysis of organization of project research activity in the process of adaptation by students subjects of history and social science as one of priorities of Russian education. In detail, characterized is project research activity as factor of formation of creative thinking of students. Defined is the essence of project research activity of students, the core of which, in the authors’ opinion, is that students in realizing their interests are carrying-out their scientific research project, solving practical or research task. The authors are examining and analyzing various types of scientific research projects of students, mostly frequent being used during lessons in history and social studies. Also presented are concrete examples from experience of practical work with students.
