Researched is the theme of formation of linguistic and subject communicative competence in students in the process of teaching them foreign hypertext reading. Linguistic, or language competence presumes formation of skills aimed at understanding separate language units, their joining into one semantic whole and establishing their interactions. Condition for realizing of such speech operations is readiness of students to implement of a number of speech manipulation, aimed at formation and formulation of ideas. The author presents a model of organization of the process of working-out corresponding skills and habits by using of problem search tasks, aimed at gradual automatizing operations and actions, forming readiness of student to independent manipulation with hypertext in foreign language.
