Discussed are problems of the current stage of educational process in the field of information technology. Organizational and methodological aspects of implementation of educational activities at university are analyzed. Possible approaches are proposed to improve the quality of basic educational process through development of additional educational programs, based on the experience of Additional Education Center that operates at the Institute of Computer Science and Technology at Peter the Great St.-Petersburg Polytechnic University.
