Researched is practice of scientific management of postgraduate students, considered is features of practical realization of educational process in postgraduate study as the third level of higher education. Carried out is secondary analysis of researches of researches of national authors, and presented are results of questionnaire of postgraduate students and expert poll of research supervisors. Studied are priority areas of work of beginning research supervisor with postgraduate students, and also analyzed are attitudes of beginner researchers to preparing their dissertation researches. Shown are complications, arising in postgraduate students in the process of education, as well as difficulties, feeling by scientific supervisors during work with beginner researchers. Special attention is paid to influence of personality of research supervisor on the process of preparation by postgraduate student of scientific final qualification work (and then candidate dissertation) in time.
