In the context of modern digital transformation, where technology permeates all spheres of human life, the social rehabilitation of students with disabilities studying in special medical groups is of particular interest. This issue is becoming increasingly relevant and attracts the attention of researchers from various fields of science. In this regard, this article analyzes, summarizes, and systematizes existing approaches to the problem of rehabilitation of students in the special medical group (SMG). It considers the problems of the maximum possible elimination or full compensation of life limitations caused by the disruption of vital body systems. The issues of transferring this category of students from the SMG to the main group are substantiated, restoring their emotional balance, self-confidence, a positive attitude, and eliminating destructive external influences. A classification of the main components of social rehabilitation is provided, among which the author considers the following as the main ones: physical education and health, psychological, and social-pedagogical. As an analysis of existing approaches to this issue has shown, the ambiguity of the definitions under consideration does not change the fundamental goal of social rehabilitation for students enrolled in the SMG, which is to optimize work methods within each component of social rehabilitation as a holistic, structured system aimed at achieving positive changes and eliminating or maximally compensating for limitations in full life activity. This issue is also actively discussed at the level of Russian public policy, demonstrating its objective necessity. This issue is being actively discussed at the level of Russian state policy, which indicates its objective necessity, and its relevance is due to the growing number of students with disabilities.
