The article presents the characteristics of the structure and content of the new educational program of higher education of the Institute of Art Education of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia in the field of training 44.03.05 Pedagogical education (with two profiles) focused on “Fine Arts, Additional Education”. The practical orientation of the program is noted, which meets the task of training professional teachers in the field of fine arts, decorative and applied arts and design. The advantages of the program are highlighted, taking into account the specifics of art education in the context of the integration of further professional and higher education. The prospects for adapting the program are substantiated taking into account the upcoming update of the educational system and the establishment of a new model of higher education.
