In the context of globalization and internationalization of education in Russia, a project is being implemented to increase the attractiveness of Russian education abroad. The article examines the problem of establishing contact between a teacher and foreign students in the context of cultural, psychological and linguistic differences.

The author analyzes communication barriers related to cultural differences, psychological adaptation of foreign students, language barriers, differences in educational systems, fear of rejection or misunderstanding, and suggests techniques for establishing contact. Among them are the use of the student’s name, the technique of patient listening, the provision of preliminary information, the application of the ‘peer-to-peer’ principle, the psychotechnical exercises ‘snowball’ and ‘icebreaker’, as well as the ‘small talk’ technique.

The purpose of the study is to describe the experience of using these techniques in an intercultural educational environment. The results of the study can be useful for teachers working with international students to improve communication efficiency and ensure quality education. The article emphasizes the importance of taking into account cultural peculiarities and applying flexible approaches in an intercultural educational environment.
