The purpose of the work is to reveal the possibilities and advantages of an interdisciplinary approach in relation to teaching students of information specialties. A number of problems in the field of design, development, support of information systems and the use of artificial intelligence are considered, for the solution of which the significance of this approach is especially great. Based on the author's teaching experience, an analysis of interdisciplinary connections between a number of academic disciplines taught at the Ural State University of Economics to students in such areas of study as “Applied Informatics” and “Informatics and Computer Science” is presented. It is shown that the interdisciplinary approach is one of the main tools for ensuring the effectiveness of training, since it contributes to the improvement of the professional training of students with an information profile and entails a number of positive effects in terms of their personal development. Some problems of implementing an interdisciplinary approach are also considered, including the need for additional time expenditure on preparation, which, in conditions of heavy workload of teachers, can serve as some obstacle. The author emphasizes the importance of continuous research of labor market trends in the IT sphere, since the inevitable changes associated with them in the process of teaching students of information specialties make the use of an interdisciplinary approach even more relevant, requiring, at the same time, continuous modification of curricula and work programs.
