Analyzed are trends in development of engineering education. Examined are requirements of competitive education. Formulated are components of professional competence of graduate of technical university, and also identified are it’s problem points. Basic tenets of STEM-education and the CDIO concept are analyzed, and proposed is the model for their integration into activity of technical university. Described are blocks of the system of training of engineering personnel for regional economy.
