Described are modern approaches to choice of application schemes of scales and arpeggios for jazz guitarists. The authors analyzed experience of leading American guitar teachers and results of repeated internships in European summer jazz schools. The article describes important technological principles of working on technical material. Identified are principals, that must be correlated with technology of training of technical material, among them are systematic, physiological and intellectual accessibility of technical material, designed variation of exercise, regular audio as the most important form of self-control, using of “minus” of jazz standards and harmonic turns). The work contains concrete examples of scales and arpeggios, and commentaries for scales and arpeggios, as well as commentaries to the performance of technical exercises.
