Presented is analysis of educational research activity as form of academic work. Interest to educational and research activity, caused by transition to competence-based paradigm of education, has generated large number of diverse understandings of it’s essence and possibilities of using in real educational process. The article offers to understand educational and research activity as form of study work. Substantiated is, that such understanding of it under certain conditions (multidisciplinary approach to using, step-by-step consecutive performance of necessary actions by the teacher and trainees, preliminary co-ordination between various disciplines planning of such occupations, multi-leveled goal setting) provides it’s systematic and purposeful application in educational process without change of existing curricula and programs.

Key words: educational and research activity, form of study work, educational process, content and planning of educational and research activity, goal setting at training hours in the form of educational and research activity.
