The article considers the values of modern youth and their formation in modern conditions. On the analysis basis of the research results the orientation of the socio-demographic group’s consciousness toward traditional values, transmitted by national culture, is noted. At the same time, some contradictions between the consciousness and behavioral attitudes of youth conditioned by the present challenges are identified, expressed by actualization of the models of individualism, utilitarianism, hedonism, in particular (under the ambiguous influence of the Internet space, process of globalization), which are in conflict with the spiritual basis of the traditional Russian culture (based on the values of kindness, collectivism, unselfishness, and hard work). The significance of forming a personality’s sustainable system of spiritual and moral traditional values based on the best examples of the national culture through the effective and proper system of education and upbringing as a basis for confronting the risks, caused by the challenges of the time, is emphasized.
