Guided by the conclusions elaborated in the foregoing section, the present inquiry undertakes a methodologically rigorous scrutiny of the mutually antagonistic modalities for the mobilisation of symbolic capital that are brought into operative resonance during the state-sanctioned commemorative observances of Victory Day. The hegemonic political stratum, institutionally embodied within the all-Russian political formation “United Russia,” secures the systematic consolidation of the pertinent resources through normatively regulated ritual configurations, pedagogically framed formats, and a centrally coordinated media agenda, whereas the oppositional Communist Party of the Russian Federation, by invoking the civic initiative denominated the “Immortal Regiment,” constructs an alternative interpretative matrix predicated upon grass-roots mobilisations. The comparative analysis records the ensuing redistribution of symbolic assets, which exerts a decisive influence upon the parameters of inter-party competition, the delineation of generational demarcations, and the dynamics of legitimation; the empirical evidence thereby adduced corroborates the working hypotheses and refines the appreciation of the integrative function fulfilled by collective memory.
