The article discusses the issues of reorganization of the higher education system in order to improve the quality of training of engineering personnel for the Russian economy, including high-tech industries. At the same time, specialists must meet such a level of training that will allow them to ensure the formation of the technological sovereignty of the country. This will achieve not only the strategic objectives set for higher education by the state leadership, but also satisfy the public’s request to preserve the fundamental foundations of higher education. The achievement of this goal is possible through the reorganization of the higher education system by ensuring, first of all, the development and implementation of federal state educational standards of a new generation of higher education on an interdisciplinary basis. At the same time, the author shows that the problems of training specialists with higher education are connected not only with the need to introduce educational standards of a new generation, but also with the simultaneous adjustment of the organization of the educational process in universities, as well as taking into account new approaches and learning technologies based on the current requirements of science and industry. At the same time, the continuity of the current educational standards and the preservation of the unity of the educational space in the higher school system are emphasized.
