Presented is the analysis situation with guaranteeing rights of students in modern Russian universities, and also characterized are principal forms of violations of students’ rights. Special attention is paid to evaluation by students effectiveness of extracurricular activities in universities. Highlighted is the level of real social activity of students in creative, community organizations and associations, that operate in university and in city. Also discussing is participation of students in public and civil actions, and also determined is the level of potential of social activity of students. In the article also analyzed is participation of students in organs of students’ self-government.
