The article presents the experience of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) in the creation and operation of an Educational and Methodological Center (UMC) for the training of engineering personnel for the Russian aircraft industry. In the context of an acute shortage of personnel and technological challenges associated with digitalization and the transition to end-to-end product lifecycle technologies, UMC MAI ensures the synchronization of training programs with the needs of the industry. The main focus is on the skills of the teaching staff of specialized universities through internships at leading industry enterprises and the implementation of additional professional programs combining promising areas in aircraft and engine engineering, thermal design, control systems, radio electronic equipment, digital technologies (PLM, neural networks, additive technologies), as well as maintenance of aviation equipment. The role of the UMC in broadcasting the best practices of the pilot project on higher education reform aimed at practice-oriented, modular and competency-based educational programs is emphasized. The work of the UMC ensures the creation of a unified educational and industrial ecosystem that provides advanced training for highly qualified engineers who are ready to solve the current challenges of the technological leadership of the Russian Federation in the aircraft industry.
