The purpose of this article is to analyze the features of research activities, the understanding of which provides teachers with the methodical base necessary for organizing the research activities of schoolchildren. The organization of the research work of schoolchildren requires special attention to the methodical training of school teachers and students of pedagogical universities on issues related to the essence of scientific knowledge and the features of scientific researches. Understanding the essence of scientific research is necessary for school graduates both to obtain higher education based on scientific activity and its results, and to make an informed choice of the profession of a scientist as their life field. One of the most important points in the organization of research work at school is the rethinking by schoolchildren of the role of textbooks and educational literature in the development of scientific research skills. Forming an attitude towards the textbook as a carrier of already accumulated knowledge opens the way to identifying in the educational literature those problems to which science does not yet know the answers. An important role in making the transition from the known to the unknown is played by familiarizing schoolchildren with popular science literature, devoted to outstanding scientific theories and discoveries, which tells about the content of unresolved problems that require further scientific research.

Keywords: scientific cognition, everyday knowledge, scientific research activities of schoolchildren, methodical training of teachers, textbook, popular science literature
