The results of a survey of 3rd-year students of the UGMU Institute of Pediatrics and Reproductive Medicine on attitudes to problems that affect academic performance in the discipline “Pathological Physiology” are presented. It is shown that a large percentage of respondents are highly motivated to master this discipline and are satisfied with the information they receive during lectures and practical classes. During the survey, the students fairly objectively assessed the forms of control and the problems associated with improving the teaching of pathophysiology. However, the conducted analysis of the results of the primary modular knowledge control on pathophysiology showed a low percentage of their successful delivery. These data contradicted the results of the survey, according to which the students positively assessed the development of the curriculum. This circumstance prompted an additional survey of this group of students in order to clarify what they consider to be significant factors preventing them from passing the control module on time. The obtained results allowed to clarify some problems with students’ academic performance to a certain extent, but raised additional questions. But the conclusion about the increasing role of educational work in higher education seems to be objectively logical, as well as the conclusion about the need to improve teaching methods and knowledge control in pathophysiology.
