Value of social communication in formation of personal identity

Researched are processes of identification and self-identification, carrying by each individual throughout his life. Their realization allows individual to realize himself as such, to understand his uniqueness, isolation from others and at the same time to recognize himself as part of different social communities, identifying his belonging to them for many reasons. Processes of identifying oneself with others and establishing self-identity are impossible without communication. Under conditions of extremely rapid and large-scale development of digital information technologies, social communication as a tool of identification acquires new facets and opportunities that are examining by the author.
