Discussed is the problem of formation of competence in physics for the purpose of qualitative change in the training of technical university graduate bachelor. Revealed is essence of the concept of competence in physics and defined is the content of it’s components. The approach to improvement of training in physics is justified, that provide objectification of curriculum of the discipline, focused on consistency and achievement of the final educational goals in specific area of training. Within the framework of this approach, the authors implement sequence of procedures for quantitative assessment of importance and reasonable differentiation of educational material in physics, the content and levels of assimilation of which contribute to successful study of general professional and special disciplines, formation of declared competencies of students and graduates.
