Examined is actual theme of introduction into educational process elective courses. The article is devoted to problems of choice of elective courses into basic professional educational program of bachelorship or mastership. In detail analyzed are necessary conditions for selection of theme subjects, content, methods of teaching of disciplines of elective courses. Also presented is analysis of place of such in the structure of basic professional educational program according to experience of activity of Institute of childhood by Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia are described. The article is provided with data on questionnaire of students’ satisfaction with studying elective courses. Also presented are methodological advices as to introduction of elective courses into educational process.
