Model of formation of media literacy in the midst of youth

Presented is analysis of the process of formation of media literacy among the youth. Examined are problems of formation of media literacy of young people in competence approach. Defined is basic concept of media literacy, and also described are three groups of competencies. Proposed is structural and functional model of media literacy among today’s youth, based on system, activity and competence approaches. Detailed are fundamental blocks of the model, and also parts of it’s substantial component. All blocks of the model are logically interrelated, content of each block represents one side of formation of media literacy. Target group of implementation of structural and functional models are students of senior school classes and students of high schools, because they are most susceptible to information influence.
