Historical training in higher educational institutions: meaning and principal functions

Analyzed is the theme of meaning of historical training at higher educational institutions. Defined is educational essence of the subject of “History” with showing of it’s place educational process, and also substantiated is the value of that subject as special educational discipline. Characterized are role and significance of historical training in educational process at higher educational institution as effective breeding discipline. Defined are principal functions of historical training, among which are being named philosophical, methodological, professionally educational, breeding and patriotic ones with presenting of detailed characteristics of them. The author’s conclusion is made, that implementation of the named functions must constitute principal guiding line and direction in the process of qualitative historical training at higher educational institution.
