In the context of an acute shortage of personnel in high-tech industries, higher education is faced with the need for a radical transformation of educational programs. A modern graduate should be ready for full-fledged professional activity from the first day of work, which requires abandoning the long-term training model at the enterprise. The article substantiates the approach to designing an educational program as a multidimensional product focused on the needs of demanded professional and ‘soft’ competencies, integration of real industrial experience and advanced development of technological trends. Using the example of the educational program in the field of ‘Thermal Power Engineering and thermal Engineering’ at the Moscow Aviation Institute, it is shown that the combination of fundamental training, interdisciplinarity, project training, digital technologies and close interaction with industrial partners allows you to create a flexible, proven strategy and competitive educational program. This approach ensures not only compliance with the requirements of the labor market, but also forms students’ systemic thinking, professional identity and the ability to innovate and effectively self-develop.

Keywords: educational program, thermal power engineering and heat engineering, interdisciplinarity, competence model, project-based training
