Future engineers’ personality development, identification with future profession, professional readiness formation are the key aspects of engineering education. Foreign language is one of the disciplines that future engineers study to broaden their horizons and acquire significant personal qualities. Foreign language training today is an extremely important and essential requirement for engineering education, as the situation in the world emphasizes the need to train future engineers to be capable of representing the national interests of the country. The article presents the original technology of training future engineers to solve professional problems using a foreign language and it also presents the results of its approbation at South Ural State University. The methodological basis of the research includes the analysis of educational and occupational standards regulating the professional requirements for engineers; as well as the analysis of scientific publications devoted to the problem of acquiring foreign-language professional communicative competence. The empirical basis includes the data obtained during the experiment on approbation of the author’s technology. The research is based on the methodology of praxeological and integrative approaches to the development of theoretical and methodological foundations of future engineers’ training to perform professional tasks. The technology approbation results prove its effectiveness in future engineers’ training to perform professional tasks in a foreign language; the technology includes three stages: introductory, linguistic and quasi-professional.
