Examined are principal problems, that arise in foreign languages’ classes in connection with reduction of classroom hours, on the one hand, and, on the one hand, high requirements, imposed on graduates’ foreign languages skills. Analyzed is practical experience in teaching second foreign language, and proposed is a number of recommendations for optimizing classroom activities. The authors stressed, that new task of a pedagogue in teaching of student in effective training without active and stable control over him, incl. in auditorium. As to the lecturer, he is becoming facilitator in learning training process, which stimulates learning of language in small groups and pairs, anticipates possible difficulties, provides informative feedback, and creates a favorable climate for work in the group.
