The paper analyzes the phenomenon of personal knowledge and its aquisition by students, which is considered to be one of the most important components of humanitarization in higher education. We describe the structure of personal knowledge, and necessary prerequisites for its successful translation in education. The latter include personality attributes of a teacher (and a scientist), which are considered to be professionnaly important. We argue that these attributes should be included in the system of qualification characteristics used to determine the level of professionalism of an educator, and to guide the development of the systems aimed at professional training and advancement.

Key words: humanitarization in education, personal knowledge, values, faith, intellectual emotion, aesthetic emotion, styles of pedagogical communication, personality traits, professionally important attributes
