The article is devoted to the analysis of the reasons for the migration of young people from megacities to smaller towns. The hypothesis is laid that this process is primarily justified by economic reasons, among which the leading place is given to the high cost of buying and renting housing. It is concluded that, compared to what it was ten years ago, young people have to spend more time to have any property in megacities.
Much attention is focused on the problem of physical and emotional exhaustion of residents of megacities. It is assumed that this is due to the concentration in the city of stressful factors leading to psychological stress such as a fast pace of life, continuous noise, light pollution, lack of adequate rest that helps restore strength. Environmental problems of megacities are touched upon, which directly affect the quality of life. It is said that concrete buildings present in large numbers in megacities can make a person feel depressed and can lead to apathy.
To confirm the hypothesis, the results of the author's research are presented. Examples are given of young people who, after living in megacities for several years, decided that remote work and a home in nature, away from the hustle and bustle, were the ideal option for them.
