The article investigates the problem associated with the peculiarities of functioning of modern higher education. A special role is played by scientific activity, which determines the achievements or failures in the production sphere, as well as in science, technology, engineering, technology, innovation and culture. The processes of institutionalization of the global information space and the increasing influence of globalization on the world economy are taken into account.
