Examined are risks of present stage of development of society, associated with disruption of functioning of basic social communities and systems, that, in turn, leads to emergence of various kinds of attitudes in behaviour of individuals, one of such is extremism. Carrying out theoretical and methodological analysis of this negative phenomenon will allow to identify factors, affecting its spread in society. Identified are problems of socialization of individual, that in consequence could lead to emergence of extremist attitudes and ideas. Analysis of genesis and essence of extreme consciousness in sociocultural environment, within which formation of personality takes place during socialization, is given, and that allows deeper study of the phenomenon of extremism and it’s sociocultural manifestations. It provides opportunity to determine relationship in its content of personal and sociocultural aspects, for effective study of which it is necessary to use resources of many humanitarian disciplines, such as psychology, philosophy, sociology, cultural studies, law, political science.
