Analyzed is the problem of quality of training specialist in higher school. In the complex of different types and forms of teaching, researched is special role of independent work of student, that is organized both within the scope of classroom work and non-scheduled time. Presented is the study of potential, substantiation of significance, and specifics of types of independent work of students during the period of training specialist for socio-cultural sphere. Also shown are specific types of independent work, planning and implementing in frames of educational programs. Conclusion is made, that such type of educational activity contributes to formation of general and specific professional qualities, self-development and self-improvement of personality of the future specialist for social and cultural sphere.
