Modern trends in higher education and it’s classic values: actuality of the balance

Presented is an analysis of current global trends in higher education, i.e. development of education as sphere of services, and development of education as key element in science, technology and innovation policy. Shown is that the process of marketization of higher education deforms labour market, compelling Western countries pursue the policy of self-employment of graduates. The author also shows that innovative policy of some Western countries seeks to balance development of fundamental and applied sciences.
