This article examines the social well-being of the population as an indicator characterizing the population’s reaction to the dynamics of social processes in society and the degree of society’s adaptability to various challenges. Monitoring social well-being is seen as an important evaluation indicator of the effectiveness of decisions made in the socio-economic spheres. The paper analyzes the key components of social well-being, the results of which indicate the need to introduce the principle of plurality into the system of indicators of social well-being of the population, based on the regional component. Expanding the system of indicators acts not only as an indicator of the current state of society but also as a prognostic factor for its further development. Based on the analysis of methods for assessing social well-being and sociological research data, a model for monitoring the social well-being of the population of a Russian region is presented. It is discussed that the use of expanded monitoring in integration with statistical data will create a basis for making more balanced and substantiated management decisions reflecting the real needs and problems of the population. In general, expanded monitoring of social well-being is characterized as a tool for proactive management and continuous development of social systems, allowing for an assessment of the effectiveness of public authorities in ensuring the functioning of socio-economic processes in society.
