The article reveals the problems of value-sense attitude of military and civilian youth to the creation of a family, which is a manifestation of matrimonial behavior. The aim of the research is to study the perceptions of family values of civilian and military students. The hypothesis of the study is based on the fact that there is a tendency of devaluation of family values in the youth environment, which necessitates the introduction of a set of means aimed at educating students of military and civilian universities in the perceptions that could significantly affect the change in the system of family values in a positive direction for the development of Russian society. When proposing the hypothesis, the authors also proceeded from the fact that modern youth, regardless of their chosen profession and affiliation to the civilian or military sphere, share the same life values; therefore, there are no statistically significant differences in the life values of cadets and students. The results of the study show that along with the general trends, military students have a more traditional view of family values and a dominant attitude to creating their own family in the short term; for university students, on the contrary, the value of their own family is present in the future, financial independence and career building occupy an important place.

Keywords: demographic behavior of youth, life values, family institution, matrimonial behavior, students, family, family values
