The article discusses the Strategy of Scientific and Technological Development of Russia aimed at achieving technological sovereignty and sustainable economic growth in the context of global challenges, analyzes the regulatory framework for its key task of forming human resources for the development of critical technologies and creating an innovative production base. Special attention is given to the description of the role of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) in training engineering personnel for the aerospace industry through additional professional education (APE) programs. Modern trends in the development of modern additional education aimed at solving problems of ensuring the technological independence of the aerospace industry, increasing the competitiveness of domestic products and fulfilling the tasks of national projects are determined. Examples of programs developed jointly with defense industry enterprises are given. The emphasis is on the practice-oriented approach implemented in them, the integration of science and production, as well as the adaptation of educational programs to market requirements.
