The article discusses the preconditionss that determined the emergence and development of the education system, especially its second level - the madrasah, which played a major role in the formation of the Central Asian Renaissance. Based on the study of factual material, it is argued that madrasahs appeared in Central Asia at the turn of the 9th–10th centuries. It also substantiates the role in this matter of the traditions of the organization of education that arose in ancient times, the activities of states and religious institutions of Islam, aimed at supporting the education system.
