In the article, using the example of one direction of engineering training, it is considered how the content of the cycle of social and humanitarian disciplines in the state educational standards of three generations has changed. The analysis of the content of the cycle of social and humanitarian disciplines in the curricula of existing educational programs in the areas of engineering training (bachelor's degree level) of a number of technical universities is carried out. Recommendations are given on the implementation of social and humanitarian disciplines in the design of new educational programs in accordance with the fourth-generation Federal State Educational Standard in accordance with the requirements of the time, modern science, society and the individual.
