Some principles of the philosophy of quality of the founder of the quality management system-the American scientist E. Deming, concerning the change of the attitude to the personnel are stated. These principles are an important factor in improving the quality of any activity, including education. The author gave an interpretation of the above principles regarding the higher education system in Russia and showed ways to improve the quality of educational activities by “humanizing” work with academic staff.
