This article analyzed the training a modern specialist-engineer for life and work in current conditions: digitalization of the economy, rapid change of production technologies and acceleration of scientific and technological progress. Today, a graduate of an institution of higher technical education should be not just a certified specialist, but a young person with experience in project activities, who understands how to create, develop and implement a project.
Key words: digital economy, digitalization, higher technical education, advanced pedagogy, the theory of inventive problem solving.
