Presented is evaluation by students of teachers by students their lecturers as important tool for internal assessment of quality of education. Such is widely used in the practice of national universities, but validity of evaluation of teaching from students’ point of view is still a debatable topic. The aim of the research is in analysis of students’ evaluation of teaching and methods of its conduct in Russian universities, above all the reliability and accuracy of assessment and possible errors. The paper discusses random nature of students’ evaluation, side factors affecting this estimation, teachers’ ratings, based on results of students’ estimates, and comparison of students’ evaluation of teachers with external assessment of students’ knowledge scores.
