Presented is the analysis of possibilities of solving the problem of informatization of social protection of population in the aspect of general process of informatization of social management at the present stage of development of Russian state and civil society. Analyzed are principal mechanisms of the process of informatization, and also shown are functioning systems and necessity of their improvement. The analysis shows that for realization of that process “initiative from above” is needed, i.e. creation of state nationwide “modular” system with single software and ability to integrate and link with each other modules.

Key words: social protection of population, strategy and objectives of informatization, informational technologies, monitoring, actual analysis, “e‑democracy”, state structures, civil society.
