Examined is the theme of motivation for self-development of scientific pedagogical personnel as forming factor of tolerance. Analyzed is the notion of “tolerance in profession of scientific pedagogical cadres”. Presented is the author’s system of motivations for professional development of scientific pedagogical staff. Also analyzed is the role of tolerance by scientific pedagogical personnel in higher educational institutions. The author’s recommendations for application of the system of motivation for professional development of academic staff are suggested. Conclusion is made, that self-development of scientific pedagogical personnel is necessary not only for improvement of quality of professional activity, but also for development of competitiveness of both lecturers and the very institution of higher education.
