Alma Mater—monthly scientific journal about Higher Education
Alma Mater (Vestnik Vysshey Shkoly) is the oldest Russian journal exclusively dedicated to problems of Higher Education, founded in 1940.
In its more than 80 years of existence, the journal has gained international recognition as an authoritative publication on higher education with a strong base of readers all over the post-Soviet states.
Mission and Scope
Alma Mater is an outlook journal with the mission of working out a strategy for the development of Russian Higher Education and scientific system in the face of new economic and socio-cultural challenges. At the present stage the main goals of the journal are:
- Adaptation of innovative pedagogical and technological practices
- Complex study of youth socialization
- Elucidation of the role of education and science as a factor of personal development
- Identification of new trends in the development of education imposed by society and the state
- Definition of the mission of the University in the conditions of a multicultural society
The aim of the journal is to publish the results of pure and applied research in sociology and philosophy of education, in pedagogy and socialization of youth, and in organization and management of higher education.
Successful submissions should position their argument within extant literature in the social sciences. They should reflect the core practices and foci that have defined the education as a social institute.
