The article considers the correlation between the social capital of youth in the Vologda Oblast and various political and economic factors. The relevance of the study is conditioned by the increasing role of the youth segment of the population in socio-economic processes and political life of society. The example of modern foreign studies demonstrates the importance of youth accessibility to education, family and friendship support networks, as well as inclusion in economic systems. The paper presents the author’s approach to the understanding of social capital, developed within the framework of two grants, which believes that social capital is a product of synergetic fusion of trust, networks of social relations and shared values. Within the framework of the methodology under consideration, the respondents were divided into 5 groups, depending on the level of social capital, and these groups were further analyzed. The empirical study found that high levels of social capital among young people are associated with a more positive assessment of both political and economic processes in general and their individual manifestations, such as the assessment of the activities of various political bodies. The article emphasizes the need to take into account approaches to social capital development in youth policy and economic development of the country, which can contribute to more effective solution of social problems and strengthening of civil society.
