The article examines the role of the curator during the period of adaptation of first-year students. Curating in order to organize educational work with undergraduate students involves such pedagogical support, which is necessary even for adult students. However, during the course of study at the university, this support may have a different degree of involvement in the student's life. In the first year, help in adaptation is needed, and in the last years, help in scientific self-determination is required. The curator solves not only the everyday problems of students, but also the tasks of becoming a student’s personality as a future specialist. In the modern education system, there is increased attention to educational work with the younger generation, hence the range of responsibilities of the curator increases. The paper presents the results of a survey of students of three higher educational institutions of the city of Barnaul.
