Analyzed is the problem of forming professional way of thinking of future doctor at universities. Basic concepts were reviewed and the concept of professional way of thinking was underlined. Determined are specificity and dynamic of the way of becoming a doctor from the side of psychological and pedagogical sciences on different years of higher education. Features of practical activities of medical students are examined. Main steps of student’s education of solving diagnostic problems are described, and these steps are compared with educational standards. Also main types of psychologist mindsets and important professional characteristics are described with the aim to determine the prototype, which should drive the structure of the educational program at university. The author’s also define main problems, hindering formation of specialist as bearer of professional with specific mindset. Finally, determined are both type of student’ professional mindset and it’s characteristics, neglecting in the process of training.
